Jorge is the founder and owner of Caliboro Boutique Voyages and one of the best known names in Chile’s tourism industry. After he graduated at the Universidad de Chile on Political Sciences and Public Administration with the intention of becoming a Chilean professional diplomat, he was invited to join the well trained bilingual guides’ staff at the leading and most reputed travel company in the country. Three years as a guide in Santiago and other parts of Chile, two years as the chief of guides, and thirty years as the Managing Director of the company’s Destination Management Division, has been Jorge’s brilliant career in Tourism and the final trampoline, together with the refreshing support of his wife and their two enthusiastic sons that convinced him to start his own boutique receptive tour operator at the beginning of 2011.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Jorge lived with a family in Tucson, Arizona, for one year as a teenager, and ever since has never stopped travelling through the five continents and within his beloved Chile. He is a real connoisseur of Chile and its myriad of touristic and cultural wealth. During his 35+ years of experience in Tourism, Jorge has attended and handled all kinds of tour groups and individuals, like small highly specialized affinity groups (i.e. botanists, opera lovers, birdwatchers, astronomers, agronomists, artists, politicians, etc.), challenging  Incentive Groups in Santiago and surroundings, very large Cruises exchanging passengers in Valparaíso or performing multiple shore excursions in Patagonia, and complex Post-Cruise groups in Northern Atacama or Easter Island.

Jorge has also been an active member of several Tourism local organizations, including many years at the Board of Directors of Chile´s Tourism Promotion Corporation of which he was a charter member, and has participated in several tourism development projects as an independent consultant.

When designing a private tour program, his philosophy is to combine the majestic nature and diversity of Chile, with the very unique and attractive cultural expressions in each of the many destinations this country offers to its visitors. Music, art, gastronomy, history and traditions will be part of his programs, while his guests enjoy admiring the wilderness and awesome sceneries Chile boasts throughout its “mad” geography.

Jorge loves music, especially jazz, classical, flamenco, and Latin American folklore, enjoys reading history and current international affairs, and interesting and long conversations with a glass of magnificent Chilean wines. But most of all, he loves to travel and discover new interesting corners of Chile which will always be recorded thanks to his lifelong interest as an amateur photographer.
